The National Pain Awareness Campaign (NPAC)

What is NPAC? Mission

The National Pain Awareness Campaign (NPAC) is a collaboration of the National Pain Foundation (NPF) and the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) dedicated to increasing public awareness of pain conditions, treatments, education and advocacy.

Objectives

•To increase public awareness that one in four Americans suffers from persistent pain. •To increase public awareness that the medical specialty of pain medicine exists and is credible. •To educate individuals in pain, their families, providers, insurers and others about new pain management therapies, as well as significant events and legislation concerning pain issues. •To help connect pain sufferers with certified Pain Medicine specialists and improve patient access to reliable pain care. •To provide an annual forum to showcase progress, innovations and leadership in the field of Pain Medicine. •To create and grow pain education and advocacy through NPAC’s team of more than 900 Pain Awareness Ambassadors. •To involve the entire medical community in the support and promotion of pain awareness. Pain Awareness Ambassador Program

More than 900 Pain Awareness Ambassadors have signed up to further NPAC’s vision in all 50 states as well as 18 countries, but we still need your help!

We ask every pain-trained health care professional to consider becoming an NPAC Pain Awareness Ambassador.

We ask every pain-trained health care professional to reach out to his or her local community and health care providers and ensure that those in pain are getting the help they need.

We ask every pain-trained health care professional to join with us in this important effort to increase awareness of pain and its effect on individuals, families and the economy.

We ask that if you are not already an NPAC Pain Awareness Ambassador that you register to become one today and start spreading the news about pain management and treatment tomorrow.

If you are already an NPAC Pain Awareness Ambassador we would like to encourage you to recommit yourself to this worthy cause and update your NPAC account quarterly.

NPAC is a collaborative effort of the National Pain Foundation (NPF) and the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM). For more information concerning pain related issues, please visit their web sites.
